More Rain

I found a new recipe blog today that I think I will be visiting more often.  It’s called Mommy’s Kitchen.  I like her simple recipes.  Melissa and I tried a new bread recipe today, not sure if we will keep it or if we will go back to my other recipe.  Jamie liked it and Mac thought it was alright.  So maybe another try at it and we will see.

Rainy Day In Edmonton

Another rainy day here 3rd in a row. Both Megan and Mac have missed ball. Megan has an indoor practice tonight and Mac is supposed to have an outdoor one but I can tell already that it will be cancelled. Which just means that the weekend and next week will be busier. Jamie hasn’t been able to work on the RV pad at all. too wet to be in the mud.

Melissa has been painting up a storm she got a Dora watercolour set from Michaels on Monday and has been painting ever since.

Not too bad imo. I love how she isn’t scared to go with different colours…

Myself I’ve been getting some things done around the house and spending a bit of time working on some of my WIPS.

I finished a few yesterday.

IMGP4849 This was a KAL that I had been working on had almost finished but never got around to weaving the ends in. I don’t block my dishcloths as I use them.

IMGP4847 This is this Months KAL I’m not happy with my choice of colour for it so I’m doing it again in a solid colour maybe that way your will be able to see the pattern better.

A little of this and that

This week I will continue to look for work. I hate this being laid off and not feeling like I can just stay home again with my kids. Jamie is much busier at work but I would still feel better if I was working.

Oh well, otherwise baseball has started. Mac had his first practice Sunday and has batting practice on Tuesday night. Megan starts next Saturday, looks like both kids will be playing the same nights at different fields, wish that would change but it won't.

My goals for this week are:

-drink my water

-clean master bedroom

-make meal plan

-take Melissa to the park for an hour with Franny

I managed to get a bit more knitting done on my KAL.

IMGP4833 Day 1

IMGP4841 Day 2

IMGP4842 Day 3

I haven’t decided yet if i like it but will try later today to work on day 4 and 5… Guess only time will tell.

I’ve also been stitching a bit. This is one of the ornaments that I’m working on for gifts for next year.

IMGP4807 IMGP4843 Maybe today I will actually get the stitching done.

Day 2 of RV Pad work

Today has been more like summer and not at all like spring, 27C in the backyard. Jamie and Ron have gotten the old gate and part of the fence apart. We discovered that part of the ground is still frozen, go figure so we are burning up some wood to make coals to see if we can help the ground to unthaw…..

IMGP4837

Melissa is enjoying her sandbox, we got her 2 bags of sand, later in the week we will go for a third bag but she is happy for now.

WIPS and Starts

Okay so yesterday I pulled out some of my long-time WIPs…. I really need to start finishing them up and getting the to the completed pile. I have decided that with the exception of my stitch-a-along I am not going to start any new projects until I have put a decent dent into my WIPs.

Here are some of the them…

Of course today is the first day of a new dishcloth KAL. Here is today's bit done. I chose to use my Chocolate OMB, Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, and size 4.5 needles. The pattern can be found here.

New Muffins

Yesterday was a productive day.  I managed to do a few of those chores around the house that never get done because of no time.  Melissa and also made some monkey muffins.  The kids and Jamie all like them and want me to keep the recipe.  I didn’t get a picture as they have been eaten too fast.  May when I make another batch.

Stitch Markers

I made some stitch markers today.  Not bad for a first attempt.  I will have to work on some more another time but plan on putting these ones to use very soon.

Melissa likes them.

A little bit of Spring

Today is a nice sunny day. Jamie and the neighbour are moving more dirt out of my old garden. Soon it will be ready to park the RV on. Okay maybe not this week but soon. I’ve been in the mood to bake or at least work in the kitchen.

I made some apple spice muffins this morning. They smell very yummy. I have used this recipe for years now. I got it out of a very old cookbook and have modified it over the years.

Apple Spice Muffins

Makes 1 dozen large muffins

Preheat oven to 400F

Blend together in small bowl

2 cups flour (I have been using 1 c whole wheat and 1 c white)

1/4 cup sugar

3 1/2 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

Chop up one medium apple into very small bits and mix into flour mixture.

Combine 1 egg, 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup vegetable oil and mix well. Add to flour mixture and mix until all flour is wet.

Fill muffin tins and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Melissa and I went to Costco for some supplies mostly milk and dishwasher detergent, then came home where the ham that I’m slow cooking is starting to fill the house with a very nice smell. I love slow roaster ham. I started some bread in the bread machine to make into rolls for tonight's meal. I also made up some macaroons for a tasty treat tonight.

Okay Spring was here now what

Spring was here, I know that last weekend we were very warm and able to work outside without jackets. Not so this weekend, if I hadn't found proof of the warm weather I would think that last weekend was a dream. These flowers are just starting to come up in my front bed. Later today I will need to go and try and clean the bed up a bit.

Charlie had his friend Jade come over this morning. Jade is going to have puppies anyday so she isn't as friendly but they still get along quite well.

Jamie and I are still working on a parking pad for the new RV. The new bed in the front yard looks great, now to figure out what to plant it. It will have to be a hardy plant. Guess this week I will be researching a little bit.
