This is the view I get each spring from my kitchen window. I collect Postcards and love to share them. I enjoy baking and will share recipes that I try.
I had been craving muffins all day yesterday so I started looking around the kitchen and saw that I still had quite a few apples that the kids aren’t eating. So then I went looking for a muffin recipe to try. I found one on one of my favourite baking/cooking blogs. The Girl Who Ate Anything you can find the recipe that I started with here.
However like always I changed things up a bit and added about 1/2cup of milk to the mix and a dash of nutmeg with the cinnamon. They turned out really good.
This year I tried a new recipe for the annual Christmas baking exchange that is held for a crafting group that I belong to called Edmonton Crafters, it is a great group of woman from all over the city, some even come in from the outskirts.
Having made them for the exchange and then making 2 more batches for my hubby and kids. The kids are impressed and asked that these make it to annual list of goodies that I bake. I’m more then willing to add them. You can find the recipe here.
I think that they look pretty good.
I’m having problems believing that the year is coming to an end already. Not sure what happened, I remember my mother telling me that time would move faster as I got older but at the time I didn’t believe her. Lesson learned.
I have been thinking the last 2 days about the upcoming year and what I want to accomplish. Last year my goals got derailed and I didn’t realize any of them except my reading goal for the year which I exceeded. Guess I spent too much time waiting.
So far I have 7 goals some of which will be easy and others may not be.
1 to get to the gym 3 times a week
2 to increase my water to 8 full glasses every day
3 to lose 30lbs
4 to write more
5 to read 70 books
6 to finish half of my WIPs
7 to make more of Christmas gifts for next year
It been a busy month or so here. Hockey tryouts are finally over, Mac made the Millwoods Raiders again this year. He is not 100% happy about it but likes his teammates and should have a good year.
Megan has started her second year of Guides, she is having fun and will be doing more camps this year. Thursday night we start cookie selling. Melissa has moved up to Brownies this year. she will have fun it is the same leaders that she had for Sparks. I have been recruited to join the unit as a new Sparks leader. Right now it is lots of paper work and forms…
Jamie is almost finished the deck. I think that it is going to look great.
I have to work today, I took Friday off because I was sic and today is my deadline for this 1 job. Tomorrow my partner and I have have 1 clean to do and then I have some other work to get done.
so I will be leaving the house in a bit to go get it done then coming home and cleaning up the main floor of the house. I’m thinking of making these later today. I feel the urge to bake again..
Started my Woman with Bouquet Cross stitch again. Made a major count mistake while trying to watch TV instead of paying attention. Oops. Oh well, a little floss and I’m back. I want to get this done by Christmas so that I have it hanging in my living room.
Yesterday I took the time to make a new dessert for Jamie to take to a potluck lunch at work. I will be making it again for us at home. I found the recipe on one of my favourite food blogs Mommy Kitchen.
I think it turned out pretty good and nothing came home so his co-workers must have enjoyed it.
Of course I couldn’t follow the recipe exactly because what fun would that be. Actually it was because I left it to the last minute and couldn’t find any Sugar Cookie dough in the premade section. So I substituted it with Milk Chocolate chip cookie dough and I also used Smuckers Jam instead of Strawberry Gel.
This got me to thinking that until my 3rd child was born I would not have made this using a mix. Now I find myself often reaching for pre-made or mixes instead of starting from scratch.
But my new motto is if it tastes good and and saves time why not.
This morning I pulled out one of my WIP that I started about 4 months ago. I want to get this one finished by Christmas.
