WIPS and Starts

Okay so yesterday I pulled out some of my long-time WIPs…. I really need to start finishing them up and getting the to the completed pile. I have decided that with the exception of my stitch-a-along I am not going to start any new projects until I have put a decent dent into my WIPs.

Here are some of the them…

Of course today is the first day of a new dishcloth KAL. Here is today's bit done. I chose to use my Chocolate OMB, Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, and size 4.5 needles. The pattern can be found here.

New Muffins

Yesterday was a productive day.  I managed to do a few of those chores around the house that never get done because of no time.  Melissa and also made some monkey muffins.  The kids and Jamie all like them and want me to keep the recipe.  I didn’t get a picture as they have been eaten too fast.  May when I make another batch.

Stitch Markers

I made some stitch markers today.  Not bad for a first attempt.  I will have to work on some more another time but plan on putting these ones to use very soon.

Melissa likes them.

A little bit of Spring

Today is a nice sunny day. Jamie and the neighbour are moving more dirt out of my old garden. Soon it will be ready to park the RV on. Okay maybe not this week but soon. I’ve been in the mood to bake or at least work in the kitchen.

I made some apple spice muffins this morning. They smell very yummy. I have used this recipe for years now. I got it out of a very old cookbook and have modified it over the years.

Apple Spice Muffins

Makes 1 dozen large muffins

Preheat oven to 400F

Blend together in small bowl

2 cups flour (I have been using 1 c whole wheat and 1 c white)

1/4 cup sugar

3 1/2 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

Chop up one medium apple into very small bits and mix into flour mixture.

Combine 1 egg, 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup vegetable oil and mix well. Add to flour mixture and mix until all flour is wet.

Fill muffin tins and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Melissa and I went to Costco for some supplies mostly milk and dishwasher detergent, then came home where the ham that I’m slow cooking is starting to fill the house with a very nice smell. I love slow roaster ham. I started some bread in the bread machine to make into rolls for tonight's meal. I also made up some macaroons for a tasty treat tonight.

Okay Spring was here now what

Spring was here, I know that last weekend we were very warm and able to work outside without jackets. Not so this weekend, if I hadn't found proof of the warm weather I would think that last weekend was a dream. These flowers are just starting to come up in my front bed. Later today I will need to go and try and clean the bed up a bit.

Charlie had his friend Jade come over this morning. Jade is going to have puppies anyday so she isn't as friendly but they still get along quite well.

Jamie and I are still working on a parking pad for the new RV. The new bed in the front yard looks great, now to figure out what to plant it. It will have to be a hardy plant. Guess this week I will be researching a little bit.

Hockey is over for another year

Sping is here, finally. Hockey is over. The weekend was lots of fun but man oh man am I tired this week.

7 games is less then 3 days. We all survived with only one issued. A tire blew on the van on the way to Melissa's Gold Medal game on Sunday.

She made it for the last half of her game and got her medal.

Winter Fun Trip

Wow what a trip. Jamie and I left early for Lake Louise in Banff National Park around noon on Friday. We kept hearing that it was a bad storm but truthfully we didn't think it was that bad until we were on the highway…. Man alive I actually took pictures as we were driving…. We stopped counting cars off the road at 140 partly because it was getting even more hairy driving and partly because it was getting dark and you couldn't see them.

It took a long time but we managed to arrive in Lake Louise and get check into our room safely. the drive should have atken about 4 and a half hours took us 8 but again we made it safe.
